District Young Musician Final

District Young Musician Final was held in Brentwood Cathedral on Saturday 2nd March 2024.

District Young Musician Final

The Rotary District 1240 Young Musician final took place on Saturday 2nd March, in Brentwood Cathedral.  The Rotary Club of Dunmow was represented by Josh on piano and Bea singing with her guitar.

Josh had the audience tapping their feet with his performance of the ‘Maple Leaf Rag’, by Scott Joplin, and Bea had the audience captivated by her tone of voice, which included a performance of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’ singing acapella.  They were both a great credit to themselves, their parents, Helena Romanes School and Dunmow Rotary.

There were nine entrants, five vocal and four instrumental, all of whom were of a high standard and made for an excellent competition.  The overall winner of the instrumental section was Fred Blackshaw, representing Bishop’s Stortford Rotary, and the vocal section was won by Rose Buggle, representing Brentford/Chelmsford Rotary.

Whilst this event is a competition a key objective of all the Rotary Youth competitions is to give our young people an opportunity to showcase their talent, be that through music, art or any of the other disciplines.

Well done to All and especially Josh & Bea.
