Earthquake Collection

Club collects £1200 at Morrisons Nailsworth

Following the devastating earthquake on Turkey and northern Syria, the Club approached Morrisons Nailsworth to request a collection day. On Saturday 18th February, Club members collected a wonderful total of £1200.

Our collection was donated to ShelterBox, the UK based disaster relief charity which was started by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard in Cornwall in 2000. ShelterBox volunteers, many of them Rotarians, are highly trained and travel to disaster hit areas at short notice to ensure help is provided quickly and effectively. Many of you will know our own Nailsworth Liz Odell who has helped at 21 disaster deployments.

ShelterBox provides tents and a range of equipment such as thermal blankets and groundsheets, water storage and purification equipment, solar lamps, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, mosquito nets and a children's activity pack. These enable a family to help support themselves in the aftermath of a disaster.

Our thanks to Morrisons Nailsworth for enabling us to collect and the people of Nailsworth and area for generously donating.
