LATEST:   PRESENTATION to the TRUST FUND

Bodmin Rotary Club are delighted that we have been able to donate £3,200 to MIKES Trust.

This was money that we raised at our Bikers Meet for Mike event back in August and the raffle that we organised to rasie funds for this great cause.

We will continue our ongoing policy of supporting  youth organisations in Bodmin and to work together with MIKES Trust.   This support for young people in Bodmin will hopefully encorage them to make better life choices. This in turn will help to reduce knife crime and youth violence.  We are keen to hear from anyone interested in learning more about this work.

22/08/23  -  After event reports....

President Neil ( pictured here wrangling his lightweight biking option) and Bodmin Rotary Club want to give a huge thank you to all those who made our Bikers Meet for Mike event on Sunday such a success.
Its quite a long list as is always the case with events like this. First, thanks to Bodmin Town Council for allowing us to use Priory Park and lending us lots of equipment and with special thanks to Amanda and Jenna for going the extra mile.
Thanks also to dealers THOR Motorcycles Ltd., GT Motorcycles Cornwall Scooter Centre, and Bournemouth Bantams. and local helpers Dainty and Decay by Carolyn - Face Painting & Glitter Artistry Cornwall and Bodmin Inner Wheel, 3rd Bodmin Scouts .
Thanks to Trewithen Dairy, Rowes and Phoenix Print for their generous contributions too.
Thanks to Cornwall Rospa and Steve from Motorbike Medics Southwest and our lovely local police officers Bodmin Police.
Anthony Gault from Lucidic Studios kindly captured the event for us and we will share his great images very soon.
Kevin, Becky and Lissy from MIKES Trust were there to talk to people about what they are looking to do with the new organisation. And thats what Bikers Meet for Mikes was all about - as a memorial and fundraiser for Mike Allen and his legacy. We look forward to working together with other local groups and people to help young people make the right choices and live safe, happy lives.
But it wouldnt have been an event at all without the 400+ amazing, generous, friendly and fun riders who came along, donated generously to our cause and made it an event to be enjoyed by many lovely local folks who also dropped by to check it out and support their local community.
It really does take a lot of great people to work together to make a community event like this a success. And, last but not least huge thanks to all the Bodmin Rotary Club members and their fantastic families and friends who made it possible.

Thank you Bodmin for coming out in force and joining in with all the events around the town this weekend! We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who joined us at MIKES Trust Charity Rugby Tournament and Family Fun Day at Bodmin RFC yesterday, the atmosphere was incredible. Bikers Meet for Mike organised by Bodmin Rotary at Priory Park today was fantastic! Over 400 bikes took part and again it felt like every person in Bodmin came along to join the fun.

After a couple of rough months for the town we hope we have brought something more positive to the community and we plan to continue doing so in the future. Please follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with our events and to find out more about how we hope to make a change.

Together we can make things better.

Bodmin Rotary Club are proud to be supporting Mike Allen's family to establish Mikes Trust. This will support young people to make positive choices when it comes to knife crime and youth violence. As we know only too well, knife crime is not something confined to inner cities and we need to be working together to tackle this frightening trend. Check out the MIKES Trust Facebook Page to get the latest on what is happening.

We will soon be selling raffle tickets to support this desperately needed work. But the exctitng news is that on the 20th August we are also hosting 'Bikers Meet for Mike' in Bodmin's Priory Park to raise funds. This will be a fundraising, memorial motorcycle event for Mike Allen. We will have dealers and trade stands with food and things to do. Motorcycle riders will attend, park up and have some food and indulge their passion for two wheelers of all kinds (motorised ones that is). Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a special day. Full details will be published soon.

Make sure you get the weekend of 19th /20th August weekend clear in your diary because it is going to be very special. It is the Mikes Trust Rugby Family Fun Day on the 19th August at  Bodmin Rugby Club and then Bikers Meet for Mike on the 20th and not forgetting Bodmin's first Carnival since 2019 on Saturday evening.
