Woodchester School RotaKids

Supporting Purple for Polio

Woodchester School RotaKids gave a presentation in their school assembly explaining the importance of the worldwide Polio vaccine project. Nailsworth Rotary RotaKids children and classmates then planted over 200 purple crocuses bulbs, donated by Nailsworth Rotary, in Woodchester churchyard.

The polio project was spearheaded by Rotary international 30 years ago when 1,000 children a day caught polio. There were around 10 cases in the last year, these in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Every autumn thousands of children and adults around the country plant purple crocuses bulbs provided by Rotary as a reminder of the success of the project. The aim is to eliminate Polio from the world, the hope is, this will be very soon.
