Open Gardens Sun 28th April 2024

Sun, Apr 28th 2024 at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

An excellent afternoon when over 250 people took the opportunity to view 5 gardens within walking distance around the Sherrards area plus splendid refreshments in one.

The weather wasn't kind but we did get an hour or so of sunshine at the end of the afternoon. Despite the chill and damp, about 250 hardy Garden Citizens, including the Mayor, turned out and appeared to enjoy the afternoon. The gardens looked fabulous and had obviously had a lot of TLC! Our grateful thanks to all the owners. The result was £2650 being raised for charities including SPACE, our President Paul's chosen charity for this year.

There was also tea and fabulous cakes - many thanks to all the generous bakers - and thanks to donors of raffle prizes and quality bric-a-brac. Lucy from Bishops Hatfield Girls' School raised over £200 to support her World Challenge trip to Borneo from her plants and books stall, and this will be matched by the Rotary Club.

All in all, a great community event made possible by the hard work of a lot of Rotarians and supporters, especially Sue and Andy Forrow.
