Most of you are aware of the Rotary Foundation scheme by which graduates are awarded scholarships to pursue a post-graduate course, in a subject appropriate to one of the six Rotary foci; Peace & Conflict: Disease prevention: Water: Maternal health: Basic education: Economics.
Some of you may have listened to Silvia (the student we hosted last year) speak at lunch recently. Next year, we are hosting Emily, an American studying International Relations at Trinity.
There are 22 students in Oxford this year with Rotary scholarships, each being hosted by a club within the Thames Valley.
In conjunction with Vesper, I shall invite four of these scholars to come and speak in Abingdon next springtime; it is not easy for them to attend Friday lunch, as they have lectures.
They are extraordinary young people with talents that make us proud we are helping them.
It is tradition that at the start of the academic year District 1090 invites them all to a dinner when each scholar gives a brief introduction to them self.
This year’s dinner:
Date: Tuesday
30 October 19:00hrs for 19:30hrs
Venue: Oxford Spires Hotel Abingdon Road Oxford OX1 4PS - Cathedral Suite
Cost: £26 per person for a two-course dinner
If you would like to join the Abingdon table, please let me know by Monday 24th September, giving:
A - Names of people wishing to attend, with the associated food choices

1-Slow roasted beef steak with roast potatoes & vegetables
