Tonight’s speaker, Iain Fairbairn, a member of the Rotary club of South Queensferry, was accompanied by his new wife Paula and Immediate Past President of South Queensferry Rotary Club Sandy Mackenzie. We also had a number of wives and partners with us to hear Iain’s tales from his career with Lothian and Borders Police under the banner of “You couldn’t make it up!”
He shared stories of his 30 years from joining in 1982 proudly following in his dad’s footsteps. During his early career he received 2 Chief Constable’s commendations for off duty arrests before moving through a variety of roles in CID, plain clothes drug squad and into Traffic. This was great as Iain’s love of big fast cars could be indulged! Then he seemed to develop a thing for guns too completing his fire arms training!Report by theresa Douglas.
