Members and guests welcomed Bruce Reidford, Director, Thomas Tunnock Ltd., as our speaker....and he had brought along some samples of the iconic brand known across Scotland and thirty countries worldwide which form their current export market.

'Pride in our Products Since 1890' is the slogan of this family owned firm which is 'Still Hungry For Success'. Bruce told us about the history of the business, the factory and employees and the market for products such as caramel wafers, teacakes, snowballs and caramel logs. As their brochure says, 'To many, the Tunnock's name evokes pleasant memories of their youth.....On walks down memory lane, Scots often encounter a wafer, a log or a teacake'

This was a really enjoyable presentation from Bruce and he went on to answer quite a few questions about the business. Our Club's vote of thanks was given by Rotarian Roy S who had previously visited the Tunnocks factory in Uddingston. He concluded his thanks to Bruce with the following:

"Thank you for your world so sweet / Thank you for the caramel wafers we'll eat / Thank you for the Tunnocks praises we'll sing / Thank you Bruce for everything"

As members and guests departed they collected very welcome samples of caramel wafers and caramel logs.
