Twenty-four members and guests turned out to enjoy a fine evening of Ten-Pin Bowling at the newly refurbished World of Bowling, Edinburgh Corn Exchange. We had a great evening of fun, food and frolics and some of us even managed to knock over a few pins during the evening. Scores varied quite a bit as was to be expected with so many skilful and finely-honed athletes present!
One lane in particular (six members - names withheld) knocked over so many pins during the evening they broke the re-set system and had to resume hostilities on another lane.
The evening for some of us of a certain age required mental stamina as well as physical co-ordination. For example on arrival we had to try and remember what size shoes we took?
Hawaiian or Pepperoni pizza?
Five fingers on my hand and only three holes in the bowling balls. Were there no bowling balls with five holes?
Where was the gents loo? etc., etc.
- the mental pressure was remorseless and I think reflected in the scoring.
We were extremely well looked after by the staff at World of Bowling and overall it was a very enjoyable social evening. Our thanks go to Peter Cowlishaw for his stalwart efforts in getting us out and organising such a successful event.
