President's Induction 12.30 for 1.00pm

Mon, Jul 6th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

This is the occasion of our Handover from President Davinder to Incoming President Barry Buttenshaw. We are delighted to announce that District Governor Peter O'Keefe has accepted an invitation to attend and will address club members.

The Rotary year runs from 1st July to 30th June and today we welcomed the new team for 2015/16, Barry Buttenshaw as Club President and Pindi Tamana and Bryan Woodriff as Vice Presidents.
Barry has served as President on two previous occasions and, having covered for several months in Davinder's absence, he is no stranger to the role.
At today's meeting we were also honoured with a visit from Peter O'Keefe (Rotary Club of Guildford) who took the reins on 1st July as the first District Governor of District 1145 (following the merger of previous Districts 1140 and 1250).
Peter gave an inspirational talk, explaining what it means to him to be a Rotarian and outlining the support which can be given by District to individual Rotary clubs.
Also present was Honorary Member Len Smith (a former District Governor and Past President of Rotary GB&I) who, in summing up the meeting, confessed that he had been Chairman of the Review Committee which had recommended the merger of the two Districts back into the original state of one single District and thus indirectly responsible for Peter's attendance!
