On Monday 17th August we were delighted to welcome Joe Dunster, Senior Community Fundraiser from Princess Alice Hospice, Esher as our guest speaker. The hospice was established in 1985 and now has 3,400 referrals every year. Its range of services includes Hospice At Home, Day Services, In Patient Care and Patient and Family Support. The cost of providing all this free of charge each year is currently £9.1m but only 23% is contributed by the NHS. The balance has to be found from donations, legacies, community fundraising, their retail shops, etc. After hearing from Joe, we were left in no doubt that the Princess Alice Hospice performs an absolutely vital role in the community and the Rotary Club of Twickenham will be considering at its next meeting what support it can give.
