Speaker: Ian Franklin, Hampton Court Palace.

Mon, Feb 15th 2016 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Our speaker this week was Ian Franklin, a State Apartments Warder from Hampton Court Palace. The Palace celebrated its 500th Anniversary in 2015 and is right on our doorstep so members were very keen to find out more about this institution.
Ian's talks normally last about an hour but with the restrictions of a lunchtime meeting the challenge for him was to condense this down to just half an hour and cover 500 years of English history!
This challenge was very well met with Ian giving us a most interesting presentation interspersed with some fascinating behind the scenes insights of what life is like at Hampton Court. An amazing amount of historical and topical information delivered in such a short space of time and it was clear, from his enthusiasm for the subject, just how much Ian enjoys his work. Thanks, Ian, for a very enjoyable and interesting talk.
