Speaker: Katina Matheson, Rotary Global Scholar.

Mon, May 23rd 2016 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Katina is a Rotary Scholar being hosted by the Twickenham upon Thames club. She is interested in speaking to other clubs in the area to share feedback about the Global Grant/Scholar program as well as her particular field of study.

This week our guest speaker was Katina Matheson, a Rotary Global Scholar from Canada, who came to tell us a little about herself, her family and life in Ontario.

Katina has been staying in this country for the past 10 months and is studying for an MA in Charity Management at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. She has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nipissing in North Bay, Canada and her host club is the Rotary Club of Twickenham upon Thames.

She comes from a military family and this seems to have instilled a love of travel which was demonstrated as she took us on a tour of some of her visits during a very interesting Powerpoint presentation.
She has been a member of Rotaract for many years and is a Past President of the Rotaract Club of North Bay - Nipissing.

Her visit to the UK is now drawing to a close but it has been a good mix of hard work and fun so hopefully she will have many happy memories to take back with her to Canada.

The Rotary Global Scholarship scheme used to be called Ambassadorial Scholarships and we found Katina to be an excellent ambassador for her home country.

Have a safe journey home, Katina, and keep up the good work you have been doing. We very much enjoyed your visit!
