TREE OF LIFE 2022

Dedications are represented by lights on the tree in front of Balerno Parish Church - Rotary's Tree of Life

THE ROTARY TREE OF LIFE

Christmas starts every year for the Currie Balerno Rotary Club with the lighting up of the Rotary Tree of Life at the Balerno Parish Church and this will take place on Thursday 1st of December. There will be mulled wine from 5.30pm and the lights will be switched on at 6 o’clock and everyone is welcome.

The Tree of Life provides the opportunity at this time of the year for people to remember loved ones or events important to them. You can make a dedication and it will be recorded at the Balerno Parish Church and on the Rotary Club web-site; and we ask that with each message there should be a contribution to local charities. Last year local people gave £1500, contributing to local charities, local food banks and the Community Chest, which supports local good causes.

The Rotary Club had a stall at the Balerno Farmers’ Market on 12 November, where we  received dedications and donations totalling £1400. Arrangements are in hand to allow donations to be made directly through JustGiving and this will be set out in the December bulletin. Dedications can be made right up to Christmas Eve.

As well as being recorded, the messages are represented by lights on the tree in front of the Parish Church – the Tree of Life – and this year there’s something new. William Purves have agreed to support the event and are providing wooden acorns, on which the dedications will be recorded and which will be hung on a Christmas Tree for all to see in the church’s Mill Café.
