Pentland Book Festival - Cliff Beevers

.

The Pentland Book Festival was started in 2015 and is run by a committee whose members come from all over our area. Rotary has provided some financial support to the festival in the past by sponsoring the Young Person’s Writing Contest.
Many local authors take part. This year’s event will run from Friday 2nd  to Friday 30th November and is an excellent opportunity to meet some of these local authors. The festival has a web site and leaflets are available. The events are free of charge and are held in a variety of venues including pubs, libraries and even an undertakers!
A particular highlight this year will be Scottish poet, Jackie Kay, talking about poetry to young people in Currie High School.
This week there is a history walk featuring Scottish martyr, Thomas Muir.
The festival’s committee members are becoming quite elderly so they are on the lookout for some younger members.
The club’s vote of thanks was given by Brian Buchanan.
