C&B News readers have responded in the past to our appeal for discarded computers to be sent to schools in Africa but did you know that we also collect discarded spectacles?

We collect unwanted spectacles and pass them on to Vision Aid Overseas who recycle them to provide access to affordable eye care services across Africa. We have done this for many years and Club members have regularly donated their discarded glasses. We are also indebted to Margaret Best, Juniper Green’s optometrist, who has passed on to us over the years hundreds of second-hand spectacles, which have been replaced by new prescriptions.

We are ready to take second-hand glasses from anyone willing to donate them. Just contact Peter Cowlishaw .
If you want to know more about this scheme, feel free to contact Peter. If you want to know more about the Currie Balerno Rotary Club go to our website at www.cbrotary.org
