The LIDAR survey of the Chilterns

Wed 25th November 2020 at 7.30 pm - 10.00 pm

Speaker: Dr Edward Pevelar, Landscape Heritage Officer for the Chilterns Conservation Board 'Beacons of the Past' project.

Edward explained how LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) works and how it has been used to make a survey of the entire Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Discoveries include Iron Age hill forts constructed in the United Kingdom from around 1000 BC until the Romans arrived?  Steeped in mythology and folklore, they offer an intriguing insight into how communities might have lived together over two-thousand years ago.
