BLUE PLAQUE UNVEILED

A long-planned commemoration of the club’s centenary is the mounting of a Blue Plaque to acknowledge the benevolence of Stourbridge Rotary Club founder member, Ernest Stevens.

With the assistance of Steve Field, the Dudley Borough Artist, the plaque had been designed and approved through the work of the club’s 1922 Committee.  On Wednesday, 9thFebruary, the Mayor of Dudley unveiled the plaque in the presence of many club members and members of the general public.  The members of the Sons and daughters of Rest generously hosted the occasion and provided refreshments.

President Tony acknowledged the work of those who had brought this good intention to fruition. In his address Tony thanked those whose efforts had enabled the plaque to be created.  He said, ” This plaque, on the walls of the room that is the and daughters of Rest will, with the tributes to other former Stourbridge people of note, remind us all of the good each of us may do in the service of others less f ortunate.”
