Abingdon's Mayor visits Rotary

Fri, Aug 5th 2022 at 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

The mayor of Abingdon, Cllr Andy Foulsham addressed a packed club about his vision of our town

On Friday 5th August the Rotary Club of Abingdon enjoyed an informative and inspiring afternoon with Cllr. Andy Foulsham, the Mayor of Abingdon, who explained his role and the theme he has chosen for his year: that of “Belonging.” Cllr Foulsham supports The Archway Foundation, which serves those in our community who suffer from loneliness. The Archway Foundation is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Cllr. Foulsham also endorses the work of Yellow Submarine, an award-winning Oxfordshire charity which believes that people with learning disabilities and autism deserve to live life to the full.  Rotarians were able to update the Mayor on our forthcoming projects and events: the Rotary Jingle Bell Jog and the World Poohsticks Championship among others, still currently in planning, and he told us about the help Ukrainian refugees are receiving in Abingdon, informing us of the work in the local community to help raise funds for those still in Ukraine. Club President David Pope presided over the meeting and offered a warm and open invitation to the Mayor to come and visit us again.
