·        responding rapidly to emergencies—identifying needs, fundraising, collecting, and transporting supplies, working with local Rotarians to deliver safely.

·        treating everyone with respect, fairness and understanding.

In Cheltenham in recent years

We have raised funds:

·        Community Connexions—£13,000 for a vehicle to take disadvantaged people around the county.

·        Sue Ryder Hospice—£10,000

·        National Star College— Over £11000 for new residential accommodation at Ullenwood

·        Helped pupils, parents, and staff at Belmont, Leckhampton and Rowanfield Schools

·        Supported. with time, money, and supplies:

·        Cheltenham Open Door, YMCA, Kids Out

·        Willow Trust, Retina UK, Cancer Research UK, Prostate Cancer UK— and many others

Environment: planted 150 trees in Cheltenham

Raising funds—£20,000-£50,000 each year for humanitarian aid—including regular events:

·        Cheltenham Wine Festival.

·        Carol Concert at The Ladies College

·        Fireworks at the Racecourse, helping Cheltenham Round Table

How the Club works

·        we meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of each month for dinner, an update on our activities and a fascinating and thought-provoking outside speaker.

·        we enjoy ourselves: volunteering, working with other clubs, visits, social, fun.

·        all Rotary clubs have common humanitarian aims, but each has its own ’feel’.

·        other clubs nearby meet for breakfast, lunch, just a drink or nibble, or online.

International support:

·        emergency funds: Ukraine, Turkey & Syria

·        helping a Ukrainian family settle here.

·        funding for ‘School in a Bag’ in Nepal

·        The Rotary Foundation, our global charity

·        improving health and wellbeing

·        working for over 30 years to eradicate Polio, reducing cases by 99.9%

·        leading on education, environment and world understanding
