What a fantastic evening celebrating the memory of the Scottish bard – Robert Burns. The Burns Night festivities were enjoyed by just under a hundred people filling Foxes Piece school. It was great to see the dance floor full for every dance, with very little coaxing from the caller. We may not be expert at Scottish country dancing but we more than made up for it with enthusiasm!
A great evening like that does not happen by itself so a big thank you to David Ward-Gittos and John Birbeck and their team for organising it.
A huge thanks goes out, not just to David and Karen Miller but also to Rebecca and Sarah Miller, their partners, and friends!, for all the had work they did in the kitchen preparing the great meal we all enjoyed.
Thanks to Mike Cannon for acting as MC and keeping us all on course as the evening unfolded. I would also like to thank Steve Berry for his light-hearted and entertaining take on the Immortal Memory.
Additionally, thanks also go out to the everybody who helped towards putting the event including the set-up party and also those that helped do various tasks on the night. I am not going to call out names for fear of overlooking somebody, but there were many! It really was a splendid example of teamwork and the way we pull together to have a great evening.
Hopefully, the organisers can find some time to relax, reflect on an excellent job done. . . and may be savour a dram . . . as the rest of us recover after our exertions on the dance floor.
