CRISIS SKYLIGHT CENTRE

Tue, Apr 13th 2021 at 11:45 am - 1:00 pm

Guest Speaker Director Christine Eyers

We look forward to welcoming Director Christine Eyers, who will update us on the work of the Skylight Centre. She will be joined by Paula Zvejniece, Rapid Rehousing Resettlement worker and Media Champion.

During the pandemic the Centre staff continued to support their current members as well as new rough sleepers by finding accommodation, sending out supplies of home kits, toiletries and food as well as providing on-going emotional support and advice. They have also been able to offer online learning and wellbeing programmes from ceramics to poetry in an effort to help people feel less isolated.

This is an important resource for homeless people in the community, offering free practical and creative classes and workshops, as well as individually tailored advice, guidance, and coaching sessions. Many of their classes can lead to qualifications and all activities are run by qualified tutors. To learn more visit CRISIS SKYLIGHT.

The Croydon Rotary Club's planned fundraising events for the Skylight Centre could not of course take place. However, during the first lockdown of 2020, we were able to send a cheque for £7,500.

Since then, fundraising has continued, but on a much smaller scale, but in December 2020 we were able to send another cheque for £1100.
