Following 2 years of limited gatherings Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary were delighted to once again be able to hold their Big Easy Quiz.
A full Kelsick Hall saw 18 teams battle their wits against each other in pursuit of ‘The Smarty Pants Trophy.’ The wonderful folk from Freshers Café, the current reigning champions, brought along 2 teams but could not match the prowess of the Irwin family & friend team ‘3 Blind Mice’ with a final score of 102 followed closely in second place by the ‘The Stampers’ team from the Crux & PO with a score of 101.
The evening raised the magnificent sum of £645 (increased to £750 from club funds) towards the Clubs International support of P.I.E.S https://www.piescharity.org.uk The Charity provides a meal a day and basic education for the most vulnerable children in Eswatini (Swaziland), operating from two care centres providing support for over 200 children every day of the year.
The Club is planning to hold further events during the year, including our popular Pink5K Walk and Cream Tea and the Silver Sunday Afternoon Tea, a social gathering for those living alone. Watch this space for more info over the months ahead.
We’re aware that busy people do not have the time to join a Rotary Club but can occasionally spare the odd hour or two to help in the community, but if there is anyone you know who may interested in becoming a ‘Friend’ of Rotary we would make them very welcome. There’s no commitment to join the club, pay any fees or attend meetings, just to help occasionally with events. More details from Judy at judyfry7@gmail.com or 07739597350
