Spring 2023 Update

Over £285,000 raised to date and more added to the coffers at the Big Easy Quiz!

Ambleside Kirkstone 20th Anniversary was celebrated by members, past and present and guests, gathering for a very happy Supper and Presentation at Brathay Church Hall. Our thanks to Freshers Café for providing the most delicious Pie & Peas Supper together with members contributions of mouth-watering desserts.

Secretary, Judy Fry’s excellent slide presentation brought back many happy memories of our numerous fund-raising events, club visits, and happy experiences over 20 years, from shaking collection buckets to Camel Racing evenings, Marafuns, Pink5K, Duck Racing, Christmas Lights fancy dress to the infamous Human Fruit Machine.

Throughout the 20 years members have been very happy to respond energetically to the needs of others, often with very inventive money-raising ideas. The club’s aim has always been to support local, national and global projects and to have fun along the way.

Over our 20 years the club has raised and donated in excess of £285,000 to charity.  A phenomenal amount by a small club.

Our mother club, Ambleside Rotary has now closed but Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary Club is still up and running and functioning as usual. We continue to meet socially, hold open meetings for the general public on varying topics which are of interest to the community, respond to emergency appeals and generally serve in our community.

On April 21st we continued with our fund raising with another fun filled Big Easy Quiz. A packed Kelsick hall saw 19 teams battle for the Smarty Pants Trophy - sadly still be to returned from last years winners but we're chasing them!  This years winning team was The Rubicons made up of President Charles, Judith & 2 visitors who popped in to join us from Bolton! The evening raised a magnificent profit of £694. Thanks to all for their support and hard work.

Ever onwards & upwards AK is delighted to be moving forward after the decline of so many organisations following on from Covid. Take a bow AK!
