Janis talked to us about the history of the charity and the fact that this local charity is the last remaining Cheerful Sparrows charity in the country. Locally the name is associated with the ward at our local QEQM Hospital, however Janis was to enlighten us to the fact that the charity was also fully engaged with the local community as quoted:
'Some years ago, we helped to build and still support the Cheerful Sparrows wards at QEQM hospital, Margate. However, not everyone is aware that we also support the local community in countless ways. For many people, referred to us by professionals such as social workers and teachers, we are a safety net when they have nowhere else to turn'
The Rotary Club of Thanet was pleased to give The Cheerful Sparrows £200.00 and our best wishes for the future of the charity. For more information about The Cheerful Sparrows and the opportunity to become a 'Friend' of the charity go to their website: www.cheerfulsparrows.org.uk.
