A lot of business was covered at today’s Annual General Meeting on Zoom.
The minutes of the previous AGM were approved and the President’s report received. We agreed the Treasurer’s recommendation that the annual subscription be kept at £150.
The following council members were appointed fro 2025-26:
Anne Moriaty agreed to act as our representative on the District Council and as Independent Examiner. Alison Moses offered to keep in touch with those members who are unable to attend meetings.
Backkhouse Solicitors are currently our only corporate member. We could do with further corporate members to help with things like the jumble sale. Whilst we have a leaflet for prospective members it is not clear how effective this is. The latest printed Club Directory is now out of date but a list of members can be downloaded from Rotary View.
The Spring Jumble Sale went well although further thought needs to be given to the disposal of items left at the end of the day. The next jumble sale will be on 22 November.
Keith Otter was asked to book the Fox and Raven for the Fellowship Meeting on 3 July.
Anne Moriaty suggested that we make our centenary in 2027 a celebration by all the Chelmsford Clubs of 100 years of Rotary in Chelmsford and that a joint committee be formed consisting of two members from each Club. The Bishop of Chelmsford should be involved since an earlier Bishop of Chelmsford was the first President of our Club when it was formed in 1927. President Francis suggested that we produce a book on the history of Rotary in Chelmsford. Keith Dabbs mentioned that a seven-page history of our Club was produced for our 75th anniversary. Alison thought it might be useful to appoint a project manager.
