Point to Point Races 4/5/08

The day dawned on a typical Bank Holiday – pouring down!! Whether to go or not, that was the question. However in true British fashion we decided that nothing was going to stop us having a good day out so Robert & Hilary, Alan A, Barry & Dianne, Tim & Judith, Graham & Marilyn and Gerald & Pauline set off for  Fulkirk Farm, Heslaker.

Robert had very sensibly brought a gazebo to protect us from the worst of the weather and our first challenge was how to erect it!!!  Out of all the "Captains of Industry" present Dianne took charge and after much ado we were able to huddle underneath it and have our plentiful picnic washed down with various assortments of red and white wine. Most of us had a "flutter" on the horses and some even made a profit.  All in all a very enjoyable day out despite the rain!

Thanks to Robert & Hilary for suggesting it.  Those of us who went would thoroughly recommend it for next year – perhaps we might be luckier with the weather!
