Blaize walk around Leathley, Stainburn and Lindley

Tue, Jul 26th 2016 at 9:15 am - 3:00 pm

We go past Leathley Hall, Thrispin Beck then Riffa Wood to Stainburn Church. Then to Stainburn Gill over Leathley Moor to Lindley Green & returning to our start.

Meet at Leathley Village Hall at 9:15am for a 9:45am start. Leathley is on the B6161.

The walk takes us past Leathley Hall, crosses Thrispin Beck then up through Riffa Wood to Stainburn Church. From there, down Stainburn Gill (which is rocky and may be a bit slippery if wet) towards West End Farm. Over Leathley Moor to Lindley Green, descending to the River Washburn at Lindley Bridge and then alongside a stream to return to our starting point.

There are views across the Wharfe Valley, to Arthington Viaduct and Chevin Hill.
The paths are generally good, but may be muddy in places depending on the weather with some gradients but nothing too challenging.
Be aware that there are nettle beds adjacent to the paths in some places so would not recommend wearing shorts.

In total 6.7 miles.

Lunch 1:00pm at 'The Dyneley Arms’, Otley Road LS21 1ET  (On the A660 at the Junction of the A658 Pool Bank).

Please confirm by the 15th of July if you are walking, lunching or both.
