Purple4Polio was a great success in Clitheroe due to the generosity
and support of the local community and school children who donated a total of
almost £700 with more to come!
Sandy Morrison, representing the Rotary Clubs of Clitheroe and
Ribblesdale said 'the response to our Iron Lung display on Clitheroe Market and
during visits to local High Schools was tremendous. As usual the people of
Ribble Valley supported Rotary with their hard earned cash. We have
raised almost £700 with more to come. This will be multiplied by three by the
Gates Foundation, which means we will have around £2,100 to spend on 10,500
doses of polio vaccine. If that vaccine was used locally, we could immunise all
the children of Clitheroe and beyond into the Ribble Valley. We were also
supported by local GP's Dr Lucy Astle and Dr Vanessa Warren, from The Pendleside
Medical Practice, Clitheroe. Lucy and Vanessa came along to help answer
questions from the public regarding polio.
Thank you to all who came along and
made a donation.'
