Business meeting

Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions many of our usual activities have been curtailed but today we were able to agree on a number of alternative projects.

For example, this year we have had to abandon our usual summer party for senior citizens and will be unable to take them to the local panto as usual. (There is no local panto this year.) Instead we decided to give each of our regular guests a small Christmas present.

We also decided to take part in the Christmas Donate-a-Dinner project initiated by the Satellite Club of Chelmsford City, nominating our President Janice Goodman and our Chair of Youth Services Keith Otter to serve on the steering committee.

One completely new project is our support of schools in Nepal. One of our members, Chuda Karki, offered to organise a fund-raising event for this project, which offer was gratefully accepted.

After the business meeting President Janice ran a short quiz based on slang terms for our pre-decimalisation currency. None of us got all the answers. The clues were somewhat cryptic and you had to be of a certain age to understand them. (We are all of that age but not all of us were brought up in the UK.) Here it is:
