Our first business meeting of 2021.

Despite the drop in activity caused by the latest lockdown, some of our committees were able to report a degree of success. We have managed to gain two new members since the start of the Rotary year, although one was returning to us after spending some time in another Club nearer her home. The proportion of members attending meetings has increased.

The Chair of our Foundation & International Committee reported that we have now raised sufficient funds to apply for a District Grant to support our project in Nepal. However, Rotary International’s advice that there should be no physical meetings for the rest of this Rotary year means that the proposed International Evening on 22 April will have to be reconsidered.

The Community & Vocational Committee had arranged a Jumble Sale for 24 April but this may not be feasible. The Committee Chair has received letters of thanks from some of those who received Goody Bags at Christmas in lieu of the usual trip to the panto.

We do not expect to organise any youth competitions this Rotary year. Encouragingly, a couple of young people who took part Young Musician in the past have contacted us to let us know how they are getting on in their musical endeavours. The inability to meet fellow musicians has been particularly frustrating for them.
