Our last business meeting for 2020-21.

A list with a large tick against itThis was our last Business Meeting of the Rotary year, so in their reports most of the committees looked forward to the forthcoming year. After so long with many of our normal activities suspended it was encouraging to hear the plans to start “in person” events again.

One unexpected result of the lockdown was the substantial amount of money held for the President’s charity, due largely to the members contributing what they might otherwise have spent on lunches. The Club agreed that the sums raised should be divided among a number of charities this year.

Our Nepal project is continuing, with a successful application made for a District Matching Grant. Our member Chuda Karki spoke movingly about the problems the Nepalese people are facing because of the pandemic and natural disasters.

The Club approved a proposal by the Club Council that we sponsor a new Satellite Club which expects to start with nearly ten members.

Decisions about returning to regular lunches at the Ivy Hill Hotel will be matter for the incoming Council.
