The talk covered how the care delivered to babies, children and families by Martin House Children’s Hospice has changed and adapted throughout the pandemic.

The presentation featured real family stories and an insight into how our local children’s hospice has responded to the changing needs of the families, amidst national restrictions and safety considerations.  It also discussed the financial implication of the last year and what the future looks like for Martin House.

Following the meeting it was decided to make a donation to the hospice and we received the following response from Chris: -

Dear all at Bradford Blaize Rotary,

Thank you so much for your very generous donation that you have made recently, after you kindly invited me to talk to the club about the care we provide at the hospice and how we’ve adapted over the last year.  I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with you all and I’d like to thank everyone again for their interest and support.  Thanks to you, we can continue to provide specialist hospice care to families across West, North and East Yorkshire, giving them precious moments to remember and the best care when they need it.

As restrictions begin to lift, it’s wonderful to see families returning to Martin House for planned respite care, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the hospice and especially enjoying the music and art therapies we offer. Because of your support, we can be there for those families who may need emergency help, or provide a protected space to grieve when the worst happens.

One family recently commented that at Martin House, we saw pure joy and happiness – it was like a different world. We couldn’t help but feel comforted by the joy we were seeing.”

This is only possible thanks to generous people like you. Thank you.

Best wishes,

Chris.
