Borderland Rotary have 6 Rotakids Clubs in local Primary Schools and we welcome them into the international Rotary family of clubs.

They are in:-

  • The Meadows School, Oswestry

  • Gobowen Primary School

  • Bryn Offa School, Pant

  • Trefonen Primary School

  • Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, Oswestry

  • St Martins School (Primary)

A Rotakids Club is a properly formulated school club that works in partnership with its host Rotary Club (Borderland Rotary) to undertake an annual programme of events, fundraisers and to have FUN!

The Rotakids pledge says it all:

“As a Rotakid, I endeavour to be fair to all, serve my community and to show respect to others”.

To make a difference to:  Our School,  Our Community,  Our World

Reent Projects

Meadows School Rotakids are supporting Purple-4-Polio to eradicate Polio.  Their Borderland Bookstall on 6th May raised £103. With a £47 donation from Borderland Rotary this increased to £150.

Bryn Offa Rotakids raised £167.50 for a project in Ethiopia with a Borderland Bookstall, and Borderland Rotary donated to make this up to £200.

Rotakids Schools were offered potted tree whips to look after and plant out as a community project.

Oswestry School filled and delivered 50 boxes to Hope Church, for distribution to children through the “Operation Christmas child” organisation.  They are hoping to repeat this again next year.  A big thank you to teacher Paul Bentley, who organised this with the students.

In Planning

Not every idea planned works out, but these should : -

Meadows School Rotakids plan a Litterpicking project and are also looking ahead to support thr Rotary polination scheme

Borderland Rotary Environment team plan to take a party of Rotakids/school children, by train, to build a “Bug Hotel”/Hedgehog retreat, and prepare the ground for a tree planting excursion in autumn 2022.

Reports

2020/21 has been a difficult year for Rotakids, being unable to undertake projects, because of Covid.

St Martins Rotakids Club fundraised for "Guided reading books" in July 2020 for the school library.

Gobowen Primary School RotaKids Club held a fund-raising event for ‘Purple-4-Polio’ to help eradicate Polio worldwide. The whole school paid to wear purple for the day instead of school uniform.
