We were pleased to be back at the Chelmsford Rugby Club for this meeting. It is more convenient than our main venue for all of us and for some of us it is just a short walk from where we live.

President Peter opened the meeting but quickly transferred the Presidency, and the responsibility for chairing the meeting, to President Mo. The new President expressed the thanks of us all for the way that Peter had led the Club over the last twelve months.

A smiling bald man wearing a chain of officeMo set out his hopes and plans for the year ahead, including the hope that we will attract more members. He then mentioned the plans that our various Committees were making for 2022-23. Among these are support for Ukranian refugees now living in Chelmsford, the sunflower competition that has already begun at Beaulieu Park School, organising a new jazz concert, the Senior Guests’ Summer Party, regular updating of our website and social media, and possibly a revival in Chelmsford of Rotary Youth Speaks: A Debate.

He then opened the floor for any other business. The only item was a report from our Attendance Officer, John Watkins, on a possible permanent move to the Rugby Club. Unfortunately the proposed caterer had withdrawn the previous day; both the Rugby Club and our own Administration Committee are investigating other possibilities.
