Ninth Tree Tree Planting

Sat, Mar 26th 2022 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Bradford Blaize undertook their ninth tree planting since 2012 on behalf of the Forest of Bradford.

After two years of cancelled planting the club was finally able to get back to planting trees on behalf of the Forest of Bradford. Another 500 "whips" were planted bringing the total since 2012 to 4,500 trees that we have  added to the tree count around Bradford. The trees were planted at Lakeside Farm Cullingworth on the filled in site of the old railway cutting close to The George Inn. The team of 11 from Blaize were helped by an ex-member (Tim Ratcliffe), a Rotarian from Otley Chevin (Roy Tate) and a friend of the club (Adrian Berry). Our thanks to them for their help in this worthwhile task. After the planting the team retired to The George for a well earned lunch and liquid refreshments.

This work involving planting some 80 metres of hedging in the year of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was very similar to our first planting at Oxenhope in 2012 the year of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  In the intervening period we have planted each year at various sites in the Bradford District including Silsden, Kildwick, Addingham Moorside, Wilsden and Ponden.
