Weekly Hybrid ZOOM Meeting - 11th May

Thu, May 11th 2023 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Club AGM

Please advise the Club Secretary, Paul Grace (by e-mail here) if you are a visitor and plan to attend the meeting in person.  We meet in The Scotsman Hotel, North Bridge at 12:30 for 13:00hrs.

Following negotiations with the Hotel the charge for our lunches from 27th April has risen to £20.00. From the beginning of July 2023 until 25th April 2024 the lunch charge will rise again to  £22.50.  While any increase is to be regretted, this is a fair reflection on the inflationary period we are living though.

The Hotel has explained a key problem in cost is food wastage. In order to limit this the kitchen requires sufficient time, after checking in at the Club’s Reception desk and selecting your main course, to prepare the right number of main courses options. It has been agreed that checking in and choosing the main course will close at 13.00.  The Meeting will start at 13.00 and will deal with Club business before the meal is served promptly at 13.15 with soup as a starter followed by a main course then tea /coffee. When we have a speaker, he or she will start about 13.40 even if some of us are still finishing our main course. Those joining us on Zoom will do so from 12.55. Depending on how these timings work out they may require a little refinement.

For the less mobile, there is an entry door to the Scotsman Hotel on Market Street, opposite the Waverly Station Entrance. Entry is by intercom with a lift to Level 3 where we will be meeting.

Alternatively visitors can log in to the meeting via Zoom from 12.55hrs.  Please advise proposed attendance using CONTACT above to receive joining instructions.  Once those attending in person have finished their lunch (approx. 13.40hrs), President Ian Spence will resume the meeting by introducing our Speaker.

Please note that today's meeting is our Annual General Meeting which will formally start at 13.40.  Where there is a vote, Honorary Members and Associate Members are not permitted to vote.
