And a new year begins..................

Adrian Scrafton takes over as President from Dave Atkinson

A new Rotary year has begun with Adrian Scrafton taking over as President for the year 2023-24.

At the meeting held at O'Grady's Hotel on Monday 3rd July, Adrian took over the reigns from outgoing President Dave Atkinson. Adrian then went on to outline his plans for the forthcoming year to those club members present.

From Charity / Service perspective our intention is to raise funds from the annual Boxing Day Dip and a Race Night which will be held during November. We will also hold a raffle at Armed Forces Day 2024 for Eva Women's Aid in Redcar.

In service to the community we plan do the following....

  • sponsor 2 young people to attend the Rotary Young Leaders Award outwardbound course in Teesdale
  • hold a Wall of Kindness over the winter months to provide warm clothing to those who need it
  • promote Prostrate Cancer awareness via a Rotary Ride event
  • promote Stoke Awareness by offering blood pressure checks to members of the public
  • look to provide and install a defibrillator in Redcar
  • take a group of children who just need a little kindness for a fun day out
  • work with local schools to set up a Rotakids or Interact group
  • promote the End Polio Now Rotary campagn by planting purple crocus corms in the Redcar area
  • challenge Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland to look aT ways to support Prince William's campagn to end homelessness in the UK

As a club we cannot achieve all of these alone, so Adrian wants to expand the membership of Redcar Rotary by talking to the business community offering Corporate Membership but also to the wider community in Redcar, Marske, New Marske and Eston to comealong and join us.

We also need some fun so there will be a number of social events throughout the year where members can enjoy some downtime!
