Doctors of the World are the bees knees
A cheque for £500 was presented to Doctors of the World prior to the club hearing a talk on bee keeping on 29th November 2016
Tuesday 29th November was another busy evening at our club meeting.
First of all we had a visit from Dr Katherine Howe and Nurse Erica Gilmore. They had come along to receive a cheque for £500 from us to Doctors of the World, an organisation which is providing urgent medical care through over 400 projects in 80 countries. Katherine and Erica had originally visited the club back in June when they had told us about the difficulties faced by the Syrian refugees arriving on the Greek island of Lesbos and the work they themselves had carried out there.
After the cheque presentation and our meal, we heard a very interesting and topical talk on bee keeping from Maurice Gallacher. Maurice had also brought along and allowed us to sample the various types of honey available.
