Rotary meet urgent local need

President Ray presents part of H&W Rotary's contribution to Jan Hayter the Co-ordinator of the Waterside Food Bank

It came to the notice of local group Hythe & Waterside Rotary that the Waterside Foodbank was in desperate need of certain items to help them meet the increased demand for their services.

Waterside Foodbank had little or no stocks of sugar, dried milk powder and sponge puddings and that's when Hythe & Waterside Rotary stepped in at short notice to supply these much-needed items.

Since the end of March, the Foodbank has seen an increase in demand of 30% and that figure is expected to rise as they face the challenges that the Christmas season brings.

"We always aim to step in and help local good causes whenever we can" says H&W Rotary President Ray Lewis, "and our members are only too happy to know we were able to help such a vital service as the Waterside Foodbank".
