Megan McDonagh Jersey Rotary Young Chef of the Year 2016 represents Jersey in the District Final at Bournemouth on 27th February.
Travelling to the UK with the kind assistance of both the Channel Islands Cooperative Society and Condor Ferries, Megan together with Mum Dympna and Teacher Toni set out for Portsmouth en route to the venue in Bournemouth. The best laid plans were upset when the ferry's car ramp failed and their transport from Portsmouth to Bournemouth could not get off the boat! Thanks to an appeal on Radio Solent two local Rotarians from Portsmouth saved the day and came to the boat to collect Megan, Dympna and Toni together with all their food and apparatus and transported them to the venue.
Throughout all this Megan kept cool and set to work as soon as she arrived albeit an hour or so after all the other contestants!
Brilliant news, Megan did so well that along with 2 others she qualified for the next Regional round in Devon. Not only that, Megan won first place for her Main Dish. They all look very appetising don't they?
Now a video of the event for your delectation......
