Rev Dr Roger Walton

Rev Dr Roger Walton is currently the Chair of the West Yorkshire Methodist District and is the Methodist representative to the General Synod of the Church of England. He is President elect of the Methodist Conference. Roger was Director of the Open Learning Centre for ten years and the Director of the Wesley Study Centre in Durham for eleven years. His year of office as Conference President starts on 2nd July 2016.

The Methodist Church is less formal in its hierarchy than the Church of England or the Roman Catholic Church. There are 4 different levels - individual churches; Circuits which represent groups of churches led by a Superintendent (Nick Blundell Superintendent of Bradford North will be giving our new year address on 8th Jan). Districts which comprise groups of Circuits. We are in the West Yorkshire District. Overarching the District is the Connexion the managing body of which is the Methodist Conference for which Roger is President elect.

Further details of the organisation can be found on methodist.org.uk
