Rotary Club of Chesham's Peace in the Park 2023: A Resounding Success and Celebration of Unity
Chesham, Buckinghamshire - 16th September - The Rotary Club of Chesham is thrilled to announce that this year's Peace in the Park event, held at the picturesque Lowndes Park in Chesham, has been hailed as the best event in the park to date. Celebrating the UN International Day of Peace, this annual gathering brought together over 2000 people from across the county to promote harmony, diversity, and artistic expression.
From the moment the event kicked off at noon until the sun set at 6 pm, attendees were treated to a spectacular line-up of performances by a diverse range of artists. The musical talents of Streetlights, The Theatre Shed, Hilltops Ukraine Group, Temoor Alam, Ruby Leigh, Chesham All Girls Band, Alankara School of Dance of Amersham, Hartbeats African Drumming, Emily Yarrow, and Rob Lehane captivated the audience and left everyone in awe. Their outstanding performances added an enchanting atmosphere to the day's festivities together with words of peace from the faith spokespersons, poetry by Karen Luke, Sheila Webb, Clare Pasquale, words of wisdom by the Chesham Youth Council and the Peace Ambassadors from Chiltern Hills Academy.
Beyond the mesmerizing music, Peace in the Park 2023 featured over 60 stalls representing various organisations, food vendors, community groups, and charities. These stalls injected an explosion of colour and culture into Lowndes Park, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere that truly embraced the spirit of unity and peace.
Mr. Parveiz Aslam MBE, the overall organiser of the event, shared his thoughts on this remarkable day, saying, "Peace in the Park brings communities together, allowing everyone to express themselves, especially in these times of hardship around the world. It's an opportunity for us all to stand united in promoting peace and understanding." He also paid tribute to Jeremy Gilley, the founder of Peace One Day, whose vision has inspired countless individuals and organisations to work towards a more peaceful world and his neighbour Adrian Begon who instigated the idea of bringing a Peace event to Chesham.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Rotary Club of Chesham, Silverson, Mad Squirrel, Trekkers, Kalpesh Patel, and Chiltern Hills Academy. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day and to the local community for their unwavering support.
Rotary Club of Chesham's Peace in the Park 2023 proved to be a remarkable celebration of peace, diversity, and unity. It not only showcased the incredible talent within our community but also reinforced the importance of coming together to make a positive impact in the world. We look forward to continuing this tradition and hope to see even more people join us in spreading the message of peace in the years to come.
