The 17th Annual Schools Music Festival took place at The Fernwood School on Thursday 23rd  March.

The Head Teacher of Fernwood School, Mrs. Tracey Rees, welcomed the packed audience and compere Dillon Makhecha got the evening underway. Fernwood Primary Lower School choir were first on stage starting with the great Madness number Our House.

Firbeck Primary singing choir were next up performing 3 numbers including a delightful rendition of Stitches. Our hosts, The Fernwood School Jazz Band, now about 20 strong, started with a Louis Armstrong piece called Dippermouth Blues.

Brocklewood Primary School were next up finishing brightly with True Colours. Back again, and yes still even better, were Nottingham Girls Academy Harmony Choir coached as ever by Lisa Downie. They sang a varied selection of 4 pieces that included some really strong solo performances.

Fernwood Primary Upper School choir were all action with Birdhouse in Your Soul and Fight Song before joining forces with the lower school choir and belting out the Lennon and McCartney number With a Little Help from my Friends.

Certificates and cheques of £100 for each group of performers, the proceeds from ticket sales, were handed to each school by President Eileen Morley. The evening was brought to a rousing climax with all the choirs joining together to sing the Take That pop classic Rule the World. The thunderous applause said everything about the success of this annual event for which the club can be justly proud.
